1. Hem around all sides of your fabric.
|
2. To separate your fringe you will need to pull on the strings
attaching it together. (This can be hard to master so don't get frustrated!)
|
|
3 a. Using a
crochet needle, push the needle through the
fabric and grab 2 (two) pieces of fringe with the hook and pull it back
through. Separate the fringe so each piece is pulled through the fabric
evenly.
b. Using a
regular needle, put 2 (two) pieces of
fringe through the eye of the needle and push through the fabric. Then pull
the fringe even on either side.
|
4. The fringe on your shawl should be
at least a thumb's length apart. (the black
shawl on this page is heavily fringed and does not show this well .)
|
|
5. Repeat Step 3 until all sides of
your shawl is fringed.
|
6. After you have the pieces of fringe
pulled through evenly you will need to tie it securely. (The close up below
shows this well.) You do not want big ugly knots! get them as close to the
fabric as you can and as small as you can!
